5-12-2008 Field Trip

West Denver Trout Unlimited’s (WDTU) river restoration project, the Golden Mile. The project encompassed restoration of nearly one mile of river between the City of Golden's kayak course, near Lions Park, and the new Jefferson County Open Space Park Bridge. The project was completed this spring with the goal of improving habitat for coldwater wildlife, providing an educational resource for area youth, improving opportunities for nearby recreational fishing, and providing improved fishing access for the physically handicapped. According to WDTU Project Director, Miles Williams, “Clear Creek will be the most accessible quality coldwater stream fishery for many people throughout Denver." WDTU staff and the contractor (Frontier Construction) gave the tour and were on hand for questions.

Field Trip participants gathered for lunch and a presentation by West Denver Trout Unlimited.
